When I think of Maid Marian the first word that comes to mind is: warmth. She is kind, gentle, and very humble. Unlike other princesses who have an air of royalty to them, Maid Marian is a down to earth (sadly not princess) but niece of the king, who advocates for the people of Nottingham and helps Robin Hood in his cause. Maid Marian has some iconic scenes in the movie, “Robin Hood” but none is more famous than the love scene where she goes on a stroll with Robin Hood through Sherwood Forest. Take a look at the pair and be prepared to swoon!

📚The History of Robin Hood: 📚

The story of Robin Hood dates back before the 19th century where outlaws used to live among the roads and rob merchants traveling from one town to the next. Scholars and historians have been digging through archives and court records to discover that in 1226 from court records in Yorkshire, England a man named Robin Hood was listed as a fugitive. He was a man who supposedly had a major hideout in a large tree called “The Major Oak” (which still stands there today!). This tree is a massive oak tree that spans 93 feet in it’s canopy and is nearly 1,000 years old! There have also been other names and variations of Robin Hood found in records across England which have been recorded and pulled together. Evidence is clear that the story of Robin Hood was adapted from the real life of an outlaw, who called himself Robin Hood, and turned into one of the greatest heroes in Disney’s history! He even inspired people today to create a non-profit organization in New York City to fight poverty for the city’s residents!

💪Maid Marian (2022) Movie!:💪

The last surprise I have for you is the NEW movie coming out this year that focuses exclusively on Maid Marian! Gone is the dress and the damsel in distress ways about her. In this movie, Robin Hood is off at war and Maid Marian is called to defend Sherwood Forest from the disgraced Sheriff of Nottingham. Let’s take a look:

Everyone knows the stories of Robin Hood and Maid Marian; robbing from the rich to give to the poor, daring escapes from the evil Sheriff, sword fights and adventures. They eventually culminate in the arrival of King Richard the Lionheart who grants the outlaw a royal pardon. Most of the stories end here. The Adventures of Maid Marian is the story of what happens next. Out of the shadows a legend returns to save her people from the tyranny of the disgraced Sheriff of Nottingham. Robin Hood remains at war and Marian must put her own combat skills to the test, creating a new tale that will be heralded throughout the ages. This is her story. This is the story of Maid Marian.
